My grounding in UX & UI design was gained while working for ninemsn and as part of a small team we designed, developed and implemented several of Australia’s largest and most successful classified websites for the Trader Magazine Group (now Bauer Media). With over 20 years experience in website design, a Masters in New Media as well as designing and building in excess of 4,000+ websites I have a large knowledge base I can call on.
Overview:
I have created interactive PDF's and e-books for many Federal and State Government clients such as Department of Defence, Brisbane City Council, Gold Coast City Council and Seqwater to name a few.
These can be a lot of fun to create because I can use a whole variety of my skills. Using my print design skills I can now combine my multi-media, animation, video and photography skills together to create a much more engaging document.
Interactive PDF's and e-Books have now become so popular they now make up 85+% of my document layout workload.

Created for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads this kiosk was used for community consultation in the Sunshine Coast area. It's purpose was to show the new route and how it would impact communities.
The user interface was created using Adobe Flash and the content used 3D illustrations and animations to highlight areas of interest.
This interactive kiosk was a finalist in the "Australian Desktop of the Year Awards" in the Digital Media Category.

The Doncaster Rail Study was a community consultation project to capture the community needs and requirements.
I was asked to create an entire campaign for the study which included print, web, social media and face-to-face community meetings.
We used the website as the main portal to capture all the feedback for the project into one location. This included integrating social media, a feedback form, text messaging and manual input options.

Overview:
I was tasked with designing a interactive kiosk to be located in the Hinze Dam Visitor Centre. The purpose was to teach visitors the features of the dam and explain each function.
Using 360 panoramic video, capturing audio of the location and also integrating a narrator that explained each feature brought an engaging virtual tour to visitors.
This virtual tour was finalist in the "Australian Desktop Designer of the Year Awards" in the Digital Media category.

Overview:
I was asked by Seqwater to design a 42" interactive kiosk to be used at their stand at the Brisbane Ekka and finally end up in the Wivenhoe Dam Vistor Centre.
This kiosk was aimed at primary school students so I decided to animate the majority of the content. Using video, voice over artists and animations to create an engaging and educational product.
Building such a large kiosk had it's challenges. When you design for a small kiosk only one user interacts with the kiosk at any one time but with a 42" size kiosk we had up to 12 primary school students touching anything than moved.
This broke pages and froze the kiosk because with 25 hands touching everything that moved you couldn't find the problem. So I set up a video camera and recorded students interacting with it. I then played the video back in slow motion to work out what part of the code was freezing the kiosk and we fixed each problem of the code but had a very robust project.

Overview
Working on the Hinze Dam Stage 3 project I was responsible for all the Creative Service material (print, web, video, photography and signage) over the 4 year life of this project.
This website was designed for community consultation and I also designed and built a weather station onsite that sent daily information and time lapse images daily.
With a very ‘brief’ brief, work performed on this project included initial client consultation, idea generation, design and usability, implementation of new technologies including an on-site web cam with flash interface and administrative capabilities. All this while keeping the site W3C compliant.

Overview
e-Learning is something I rather enjoy and when I was asked to design and develop an education program for primary school students to learn about water conservation.
Up A Dry Gully was born and I decided to create 11 cartoon characters that would set the scene for the program. Working closely with trained educators we designed the whole program around the Queensland Science curriculum.
In the first year we had 400 students enroll and it has now become so popular it is being rolled out nationally.

Rowville Rail Study was a community consultation project to capture the community needs and requirements for a heavy rail line to Rowville in the South-East suburb of Melbourne.
An entire campaign was created and we used the website as the main portal to capture all the feedback for the project into one location. This included integrating social media, a feedback form, text messaging and manual input options.
The proposed rail line passed by the Monash University so social media was vital to this study. With over 7,000 social media comments a month management of comments was vital to get accurate feedback for the study.
